Springbank Vintage Cask Batch No2 1997



Campbeltown Cask Strength Whisky: On the famous Mull of Kyntyre two distilleries remain, Glen Scotia and Springbank, the latter of which occasionally produces the Malt known as Longrow. Springbank is a benchmark of a Malt, Longrow a gem to be appreciated when available. These Malts have had no water added since being placed into cask following-distillation. Their strength can vary with time in the cask due to being stored in either a dry or a damp atmosphere. Cask strength Malts have greater concentration than standard.

	Distiller notes: Nose - On the nose we found damp moss, varnish, fruit (red apples, green bananas and oranges - all very colourful!) reminiscent of farmyards. Look a little deeper to reveal subtle hints of the rich oat, chocolate and marmalade flavours from batch 1. Left to breathe its sweet side really develops and brings out aromas of vanilla and toasted marshmallows. Palate - On the palate there’s loads of sherry and oak. Nice and earthy - think moss and damp woodlands or dunnage warehouse floors. Finish - Long and sweet.
	The house style for the Springbank distillery is: Springbank house style Salty, oily, coconut. Aperitif. Longrow house style Piney, oily, damp earth. Nightcap.
